The Food Bank of Northern Indiana is a certified member of America’s Second Harvest. Second Harvest, the Nation’s Food Bank Network, is the largest domestic hunger-relief charity in the United States. The Network consists of more than 200 food banks and food-rescue organizations.
In 1993, the Food Bank was founded under the name of the North Central Indiana Food Bank. Since our inception we have distributed over 40 million pounds of food worth a wholesale value in excess of $30,000,000. Our member agencies pay a small handling fee called a shared maintenance fee of approximately 16 cents per pound. The Food Bank relies on fees paid by member agencies, grants, and donations from individuals.
